The EnCana Training Facility in Denver, Colorado is designed to recruit recent college graduates into their training program.
The training facility portrays EnCana's relationship with the natural materials they work with and the technology employed. Likewise the lighting needed to enhance the interior environment while pushing the edge of available technology in an application responsive and responsible manner. Minimalist coves with LED sources graze the walls highlighting the natural materials' textures, balance interior/exterior brightness, and provide indirect ambient illumination from the walls in an elegant manner throughout the common spaces. Training, conference and telecommunication rooms are illuminated by direct/indirect recessed fluorescent luminaires, general task surfaces are individually illuminated with system control while individual task areas employ local control, with overall control by the instructor. Indirect fluorescent and focused low-voltage accent lighting supplements these overall lighting systems with complete control throughout the facility.
Using a single watt per square foot, this graceful while technically aggressive lighting design achieves an energy efficient solution for this energy provider.
